Thank you for visiting us here at St. John’s Episcopal Church. We are glad you stopped here.
If you are searching for a community that will renew your faith in God’s love, nurture your spirit, forgive your human faults, and celebrate your gifts, there is a place for you at St. John’s. We invite you to visit and worship with us.
Visiting St. John’s
Walking into a church for the first time (or for the first time in a long time) can be intimidating. Please be assured that at St. John’s you’ll receive a warm, relaxed welcome. We’re genuinely glad that you’ve chosen to worship with us, and we look forward to meeting you.
Will I Be Welcome?
Yes, but we also respect your privacy. We won’t ask you to stand up and identify yourself as a visitor. We won’t pounce on you as you come in the door or as you leave, but we will try to greet you and welcome you. (If we don’t on your visit, forgive us. Sometimes things get a little hectic, and some of us tend to be a little introverted ourselves.) If you visit the 10:30 service, you’re invited to join us for coffee and brunch following that service in our Parish Hall.
Would I Fit In?
Absolutely! We’re young and old; never-married singles, traditional families, single-parent families, divorced singles, widowed singles and empty-nesters. We live in Minden, Homer, Doyline, Gibsland, Haughton, Springhill, and throughout Webster, Claiborne and Bossier Parishes. Some of us grew up in the Episcopal Church; others came to the Episcopal Church as adults from other Protestant denominations, the Roman Catholic Church or from no church background at all. Some of us cherish tradition; others like new ways of doing things. Some of us wear suits; others wear jeans and t-shirts. In short, everyone is welcome at St. John’s.
What About My Kids?
Children are always welcome at St. John’s. Your kids are always welcome to sit with you in Church, or younger nursery-aged children may go to the nursery and be brought to you before communion if you desire.
Quiet Bags for young children are available in the Narthex (entrance) or from an usher. The bulletins are dated for each Sunday, and the subjects are related to the theme and readings of the day.
Where is St. John’s
St. John’s is located along Broadway Street directly past downtown Minden on “church row”. The front entrance of St. John’s faces Broadway on the same side of the street as the Methodist and Presbyterian churches. The Youth Center (a former residence) is on the corner of Broadway and Lewisville Rd. across from the Presbyterian Church. Our parking lot and parish hall are located behind the Youth Center and are readily seen from Lewisville Rd.
If you are traveling…
…Southeast on Main Street. You can turn right into our main entrance just before Lewisville Road. This will bring you in right next to the church.
…Northeast on Broadway Street. You will need to turn left at the Lewisville Road intersection. Once on Lewisville Road, you will turn right at the first right into our main parking lot.
…Southerly on Lewisville Road. You will need to turn left into our main parking lot just before you reach the Broadway / Main Street intersection.
